Rockies end losing streak
The Rockies put an end to a four-game losing streak on Tuesday with a 5-0 win over the Pirates. Colorado is 21-25 on the season, 12-14 on the road and 24-20 with the over. Jon Gray will be making the start for the Rockies this evening. He is 3-4 on the season with a 4.73 ERA.
Colorado held Pittsburgh to just three wins on Tuesday as German Marquez dominated on the mound. He pitched eight scoreless innings, allowing just one walk with seven strikeouts. Marquez improved to 5-2 on the season with the victory. Charlie Blackmon had three hits and two RBI to lead the Rockies while Nolan Arenado had two hits.
Pirates unable to continue win streak
Pittsburgh had a three-game winning streak going, but the Pirates suffered a 5-0 loss on Tuesday. The Pirates are now 24-21 on the season, 9-10 at home and 24-21 with the over. Pittsburgh has Montana DuRapau on the mound tonight. He is 0-0 on the year with a 1.35 ERA.
The Pirates had just three hits in the loss on Tuesday. Only one was for extra bases. Bryan Reynold had a double and walked twice. Chris Archer took the loss on Tuesday, falling to 1-4 on the season. He gave up four runs over five innings of work. Archer allowed six hits and two walks with just three strikeouts.
MLB Betting Trends
Colorado
The Rockies are just 1-4 in their last five road games and 1-5 in their last six Game 2’s of a series.
Pittsburgh
The Pirates are 5-1 in their last six Game 2’s in a series and 5-2 in their last seven games following a loss.
Prediction:
Gray has struggled as of late, giving up at least five runs in three of his last four starts. DuRupau has given up just one earned run over 6.2 innings. He doesn’t have a lot of experience on the mound. Pittsburgh got locked up at the plate on Tuesday, but I don’t expect that to happen tonight. Gray doesn’t have the numbers to make that happen. I think the Pirates will be able to bounce back tonight against an inconsistent Colorado lineup.
MLB Prediction: Pittsburgh Pirates +105
