Brewers’ Chacin holds Rockies to two runs in win
Jhoulys Chacin limited the Rockies to two runs over 5 1/3 innings in a win Thursday. Chacin gave up four hits and walked two in the outing, striking out five. He’s now rattled off three wins in his last three decisions and still hasn’t lost since April 4. The right-hander will carry a 4.00 ERA and 1.44 WHIP into Tuesday’s matchup with the Diamondbacks.
Diamondbacks’ Greinke shuts down Nationals over seven-plus innings
Zack Greinke was superb while taking a no-decision in Thursday’s 2-1, 11-inning loss to the Nationals, firing off seven-plus innings of one-run ball.
Greinke had everything working in this one, striking out six without issuing a walk on the evening. He finished his night’s work having thrown 91 pitches (66 for strikes). Alas, Greinke was unable to hold a slim 1-0 advantage, with a Michael Taylor leadoff double in the eighth coming back to bite after he left the game. It’s mostly been a strong year for the right-hander on the whole, albeit with a few wobbles here and there.
While he’s allowed two or fewer runs in five of his eight starts to date, he’s been knocked about for at least four in each of the other three outings. It all works out to a 3.70 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 53/6 K/BB ratio over the course of 48 2/3 innings pitched. A home start against the Brewers shows next on his schedule.
MLB Betting Trends
Milwaukee
The Brewers are 4-1 in their last five games overall, are 7-1 in their last eight road games and are 9-1 in their last 10 games against National League West opponents.
Arizona
The Diamondbacks are 0-6 in their last six games overall and are 0-5 in their last five games coming off a loss.
Prediction:
Despite getting burned by the under last night I’m going back to the well tonight. Had the Brewers not dropped a crooked number in the top of the ninth last night, the under would have cashed. The under is 5-1 in Chacin’s last six starts, is 4-1 in his last five outings coming off four days of rest and is 5-1 in Greinke’s last six home starts.
The Pick: Brewers/Diamondbacks under 8
