Red Sox’ Pomeranz solid over six innings vs. Yankees
Drew Pomeranz limited the Yankees to two runs over six frames Tuesday in a no-decision. Pomeranz served up a pair of solo home runs to Giancarlo Stanton, but those were the only tallies the Bombers mustered off the southpaw. He gave up just four hits while walking two, battling through an apparent fingernail issue. It’s Pomeranz’s best outing so far this season and his arrow is pointing up with two straight quality starts following a couple clunkers. He’ll try to keep it going on Sunday in Toronto.
Blue Jays’ Biagini dinged for six runs in last start
Joe Biagini allowed 10 hits and six runs over 4 1/3 innings in a loss to the Indians in the second game of Thursday’s doubleheader. The team was certainly hoping for some quality innings from the right-hander after the first game of the day went into extra innings, but instead the Tribe hung 13 runs on Biagini and company in the nightcap. The start was the second of the year for Biagini in the bigs, and he owns an 8.10 ERA and 2.00 WHIP after Thursday’s disastrous showing. He was optioned to Triple-A after the start and was recalled to face the Red Sox.
