Rays’ Yarbrough fires five scoreless innings to beat Blue Jays
Ryan Yarbrough was outstanding in relief of Andrew Kittredge on Friday, firing five shutout innings in a victory over the Blue Jays. Yarbrough allowed just one hit and struck out four over his five masterful innings, needing just 58 pitches (40 strikes) to record 15 outs. He had been scheduled to start the bullpen game for the Rays, but manager Kevin Cash opted to start out with Kittredge instead, and it paid off. Yarbrough has done a nice job out of the bullpen, registering a 3.33 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 20/10 K/BB ratio in 24 1/3 innings.
