White Sox with stunning win
Chicago opened this series on Monday with an impressive 9-1 road win as a real heavy underdog. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the White Sox. Chicago is now 15-18 on the season, 7-8 on the road and 20-12 with the over. The White Sox have Lucas Giolito on the mound today. He is 2-1 on the season with a 5.32 ERA.
The White Sox racked up nine runs on 13 hits Monday, scoring in six of the nine innings of play. Things got started quickly, as Yoan Moncada had a two-run home run in the first. He finished with two hits and four RBI to lead the White Sox while Tim Anderson had two hits and drove in two runs. Ivan Nova had struggled this year on the mound, but he managed to go seven innings on Monday, allowing just one run with five strikeouts to earn his first win of 2019.
Indians struggle to score again
Cleveland suffered a second straight loss on Monday and they have scored just one run over their last two games. They also have had two runs or less in four of their last five games. The Indians are now 18-15 on the season, 9-6 at home and 17-15 with the under. Cleveland has Jefry Rodriguez on the mound today. He is 0-1 on the year with a 2.13 ERA.
Trevor Bauer didn’t have his best stuff on Monday. He fell to 4-2 on the season by giving up seven earned runs in just five innings of work while striking out seven. Cleveland actually had 10 hits in the loss, but stranded 11 runs for the night. Jason Kipnis drove in the lone run for Cleveland and finished with two hits, including a double.
MLB Betting Trends
Chicago
The White Sox are 4-1 in their last five division games, but just 3-8 in Giolito’s last 11 starts.
Cleveland
The Indians are 6-1 in their last seven after scoring two runs or less in their previous game, but they have lost four straight division games.
Prediction:
The Indians are really struggling at the plate over the last week and that has become quite concerning. As Monday showed, they can’t just rely on their pitching to win games. Giolito may have a big ERA, but he isn’t a gas can and could be able to add to Cleveland’s woes today. Rodrigurez has a nice ERA, but so did Bauer and he was beat up by Chicago’s big-name hitters. Given the struggles of Cleveland at the plate, I am going to take my chances on another upset today.
MLB Prediction: Chicago White Sox +130
