Nationals' Strasburg allows three runs in win over Pirates

Stephen Strasburg allowed three runs -- two earned -- and struck out 11 batters in seven innings to snare a win versus the Pirates on Wednesday. He issued just one free pass and yielded seven knocks, including a solo homer by catcher Francisco Cervelli. It was a nice bounce-back effort after he gave up five runs to the Diamondbacks in his last start. Strasburg improves to 3-3 with a 3.47 ERA and 1.05 WHIP in seven starts. He has an excellent 54:11 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 46 2/3 innings.

Padres' Ross strikes out nine in no-decision vs. Giants

Tyson Ross allowed one earned run, four hits and three walks with nine strikeouts over six innings in a no-decision Tuesday in San Francisco. Ross threw 64 of his 102 pitches for strikes to lower his ERA to 3.28. He has managed four quality starts in six outings, and the only two times he didn't post one came at Coors Field against the Rockies on April 25 at Minute Maid Park against the Astros on April 8. He'll be tested in his next outing on Monday against Stephen Strasburg and the Nationals to kick off a two-start week.

MLB Betting Trends

The Nationals are 6-1 in Strasburg's last seven starts versus the Padres, are 8-3 in their last 11 road games versus San Diego and are 5-2 in their last seven meetings with the Friars overall.

San Diego

The under is 5-0-2 in the last seven meetings between these two teams and is 3-0-1 in the last four meetings in San Diego.

I like the under, which is 4-1 in Strasburg's last five road starts and is 28-9-3 in the Nationals' last 40 games versus the National League West. On the other side, the under is 5-0 in Ross' last five starts overall, is 23-9-4 in his last 36 home outings and is 30-12-2 in his last 44 starts versus a team with a winning record.

The Pick: Nationals/Padres under 7
