According to oddsmakers at YouWager, the Rays are listed as the favorite at home tonight, as Tampa is getting odds of -120 to win. Minnesota is listed with a money line of +110 to prevail. The over/under total has been set at 7.5 runs. Currently 53% of the wagers are going on the Twins on the road. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our MLB Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.
Twins pitching lets them down
Minnesota has had good pitching this season, allowing just 3.38 runs per game. However, they came up short on Friday in an 8-7 loss to Tampa in 10 innings. Minnesota now sits at 8-6 overall with a 3-3 record on the road. The Twins are putting up 4.15 runs per game at the plate, as they have been relying heavily on pitching to win.
Kyle Gibson will be getting the start this evening for the Twins. He has pitched in three games this season and has allowed six earned runs over 14.2 innings. He is 1-0 and has a 3.68 ERA with a 1.64 WHIP as he has 10 walks and 13 strikeouts.
Rays win back-to-back games
The Rays actually have some positive momentum for a change. Last night’s win marks their third in four games, which is the best stretch yet this season. Tampa is now 6-13 overall and 4-7 at home. The Rays are posting just 3.44 runs per game this year while allowing 5.22 per game.
Blake Snell will be getting the start for the Rays on Saturday. He has started four games this season and is 2-1 with a 2.95 ERA and 1.08 WHIP. Snell has 26 strikeouts with 10 walks over 21.1 innings of work.
MLB Betting Trends
Minnesota
Minnesota is just 5-11 in its last 16 road games against a left-handed start and 2-6 in its last eight against AL East opponents.
Tampa Bay
Tampa Bay has won four of Snell’s last five home starts and seven of his last eight home starts against a team with a winning record.
Prediction:
Tampa actually has some good things going right now. Friday’s win was a positive because they haven’t been hitting well lately and managed to produce eight runs. I don’t think they will need that many today as Snell has had back-to-back strong starts. I like Tampa to keep the momentum going this evening.
The Pick: Tampa Bay Rays -120
