After Successful Weekend, Toronto Blue Jays Hit Road
The Blue Jays took two of three against the Texas Rangers over the weekend, which included a great offensive performance on Sunday against Cole Hamels. They’ll send J.A. Happ to the hill on Monday night in Baltimore looking to build off their successful series versus the Rangers.
Happ struck out nine batters in his last outing against the Chicago White Sox, but did allow four runs and seven hits in 5 1/3 innings of work. He’s 4-6 with a 3.45 ERA in 15 appearances (14 starts) against Baltimore. He has also posted a 1-2 record with a 4.05 ERA at Camden Yards. Happ might have to deal with Chris Davis, who missed the final game against the Yankees on Sunday due to an illness. Then again, it might be a good thing for Toronto if Davis is in the O’s lineup, seeing as how he has struggled so far this season (.100 batting average).
Baltimore Orioles Look to Carry Bronx Momentum Home
The Orioles won three of four games against the Yankees in New York over the weekend, two games of which came in extra innings.
“The Yankees made it tough on us,” Orioles manager Buck Showalter said. “They came back on us and almost broke our hearts. Sometimes you want something too much because this game will break your heart.”
One reason to like Baltimore on Monday night: Dylan Bundy toes the rubber for the O’s and he’s been their most consistent starter. In two starts this season, Bundy has allowed just two runs on 10 hits while striking out 15 and walking three. He has also owned the Blue Jays throughout his career, posting a 3-0 record and a 0.76 ERA in seven appearances, which includes three starts.
MLB Betting Trends
Toronto
The Blue Jays are 5-2 in Happ’s last seven starts dating back to last season and are 4-1 in his last five road outings.
Baltimore
The Orioles have won six of Bundy’s last eight home starts but are just 1-4 in his last five outings overall.
Prediction:
This isn’t a bad price to pay on the Orioles, who have dominated their matchup with Happ. They’re 4-1 in Happ’s last five games in Baltimore and are 4-0 in their last four games versus the Blue Jays when Happ starts. Plus, if you’re going to back Baltimore with any of its pitchers on the hill, you might as well back the O’s when Bundy toes the rubber.
The Pick: Baltimore Orioles -115
