WGC-Mexico Championship Picks
The 2019 WGC-Mexico Championship tees off on Thursday morning and features a very strong field of golfers. Here’s some betting options for this weekend’s event.
According to the latest oddsmakers, Justin Thomas is favored to win, as he has 9/1 odds. Other short odds to win are Dustin Johnson (10/1), Rory McIlroy (11/1) and Bryson DeChambeau (15/1). The WGC-Mexico Championship takes place Thursday-Sunday from Club de Golf Chapultepec in Naucalpan de Juarez, Mexico.
Bet on the WGC-Mexico Championship
Dustin Johnson 10/1
Johnson won this tournament in 2017, the first year it took place at this course. He is a two-time winner of this year-opening WGC tournament. DJ currently sits third in the world ranking and already has one win and three top-10 finished in five tournaments this year. Johnson has typically played pretty well in WGC events. He has won five over his career and has placed in the top 10 in seven of the last 11 that have taken place.
Jon Rahm 16/1
Rahm sits sixth in the world rankings and has been knocking on the door for a win all year. In five tournament, he has placed in the top 10 in all of them. Last year, Rahm was able to pick up three wins and 10 top-10 finishes. Rahm finished third in this event in 2017 and 20th last year. Of the WGC events, this one has been his best. I think Rahm has another strong showing this weekend and could take home the title.
Tommy Fleetwood 33/1
Fleetwood has a strong 2018 season, playing very well in majors and WGC events. He finished 17th or better in all four WGC events last year. He placed 14th in the Mexico Championship and was second in 2017. Fleetwood is off to a slow start to the 2019 season, but I suspect he will get back on track at a course that has suited his game well. Fleetwood has some nice odds for his ability and I think he could provide a big payout.
