Gustafsson (16-2) fought champion Jon Jones in September of 2013, losing a very close decision. He followed that up with a KO win and can now earn a rematch with Jones with a win over Johnson (18-4) in his home country. Johnson has won eight straight fights, including his last two since returning to the UFC, beating solid contenders Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Phil Davis.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Gustafsson is favored to win this fight, as he has odds of -265 to prevail, while Johnson has been given odds of +205 to win. These two will meet in the main event of UFC on FOX this Saturday night at 8PM ET.
Gustafsson has a very difficult striking style to contend with. He is very long and very light on his feet, allowing him to strike from complex angles. This is what gave Jones a lot of problems in their title fight. Johnson is also very long, but relies more on strength to win. He can overpower opponents with his grappling and land one big KO punch or kick. Gustafsson is more technical with his striking and would likely win a standing battle. If Johnson is to win, it will likely be because of his grappling.
