In the main event, Jose Aldo retained his UFC Featherweight Championship by knocking out Chad Mendes at the end of the first round. Oddsmakers had Aldo as the favorite coming into the contest, with a money line of -250. That means a wager of $250 on Aldo to win will pay out an additional $100. Aldo avoid the takedown attempts from Mendes and landed some powerful leg kicks early before hitting a knee to the head of Mendes during a grappling exchange that would lead to the end of the fight with just one second remaining in the first round.
In the co-main event, Vitor Belfort picked up a submission win over Anthony Johnson. Both fighters came out looking to strike, but it was Johnson that got the early edge, scoring a takedown in the middle of the round. However, he was unable to keep Belfort grounded and began to tire. From there, Belfort turned up the pressure landing a flurry of punches before taking Johnson’s back and sinking in a choke to force the tap out. Oddsmakers had Belfort as a slight favorite to win with a money line of -120. That means a $120 wager on Belfort will pay out an additional $100.
