CLEVELAND, OH (The Spread) – Johnny Manziel, starting quarterback for the Browns in 2015? Don’t rule the scenario out.
Browns quarterback coach Kevin O’Connell wouldn’t rule out Manziel starting for the team this season.
“My thoughts on Johnny haven’t changed,” said O’Connell per the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “Right now coach Pettine’s been very clear that Josh McCown is here for a reason, but we build everything around competition.”
McCown remains the favorite to start for the Browns, regardless of what any coach in Cleveland says in OTAs or training camp. There are questions about whether or not Manziel fits the offense and there were reports not long ago that Pettine had moved on from the idea that Manziel is the Browns’ future. It would be an upset if he were their starting in Week 1.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Browns are 75/1 to win the 2016 Super Bowl and 33/1 to win the AFC Conference Championship next season.
