The surprising Colorado Rockies look to continue their strong play tonight in Cincinnati when they visit the Reds at 7:10PM ET.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Reds and Rockies both have odds of -110 on the money line, respectively, to win tonight's game. And with Jordan Lyles set to face Daniel Straily in the pitching matchup, the over/under sits at 9 runs.
Nolan Arenado hit a solo home run off Cubs starter Jon Lester in the Rockies' 2-0 win over Chicago on Sunday and also hit a solo blast off reliever Justin Grimm in the top of the ninth. The third baseman now has six home runs and 16 RBI in 12 games this season. His OPS is a ridiculous 1.021.
For the Reds, Jon Moscot gave up three earned runs in 5 2/3 innings on Sunday as the Reds fell 4-3 to the Cardinals. Straily was moved into the team's starting rotation for tonight's game and his inclusion will push everyone else back a day. Straily currently owns a 3.24 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 8/4 K/BB ratio through 8 1/3 innings this season. He could earn a permanent spot in the rotation if he pitches well today.
OUR PREDICTION: This game has over written all over it. Lyles didn't make it out of the fifth inning in either of his starts this season and is coming off an ugly no-decision against the Giants in which he allowed five runs on six hits. Straily, meanwhile, has had an issue with walks (4.32 BB/9, which is high, even for a reliever) and doesn't figure to cool down Colorado's bats. The over is 12-4-2 in the last 18 meetings between these two teams, including 8-3-1 in the last 12 games in Cincinnati.
