Odds: Stay Thirsty opened as a +3000 money line long shot when oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com updated their odds earlier this week. But now Stay Thirsty is +2000 on the ML, ranking him with fellow contenders Brilliant Speed, Pants On fire, Twice The Appeal and Comma to the Top, who all are +2000 as well.

Race History: Stay Thirsty did not fair well at the Florida Derby (Grade 1) on April 3, finishing seventh behind (among others) Kentucky Derby favorite Dialed In. Stay Thirsty did win his only other race of the year, finishing first at the Gotham (Grade 3) on March 5.

Post Position: Stay Thirsty received a great draw on Wednesday when the post positions for the Kentucky Derby were revealed. He’ll be coming out of the No. 4 post, which has produced 11 Derby winners since 1900. Only the rail and the No. 5 post (which have each produced 12 wins apiece) have won more times.

Outlook: While his effort at the Florida Derby was poor, Stay Thirsty is better than what he showed that day. He also has a nice post position and isn’t a horse that is to come in the money.
