China Odds to Win
The 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China this year and it’s no surprise that oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog favor the host country in a lot of events.
According to oddsmakers, China is the favorite to take home most overall medals this year, with its odds set at 4/5. China is also the favorite to win the most gold medals at 2/5 and the country’s over/under total for medals won has been set at 94.5.
NBA star Yao Ming will also play for China’s basketball team this summer. While China is listed as a long shot to win the Men’s Basketball Tournament at 50/1, don’t count them out with the 7-6 Ming under the basket.
Given they’ll be on their home land and how much estimated money has been spent into training their athletes, China has become the odds-on favorite to take home the most medals this summer. Oddsmakers aren’t the only ones excited about China’s potential for medal greatest this summer – the media is too. The buzz is that while the United States will give them a run for its money, China appears to have an inside track to claim the most victories in Beijing.
