According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, Always Dreaming is 3/1 to win Saturday’s Kentucky Derby. Those odds make Always Dreaming the clear favorite to win at Churchill Downs, as Mc Craken has the next-best odds at 15/4. Gunnevera, Irap and Irish War Cry, meanwhile, are all 11/2, respectively, to win the Kentucky Derby.

Always Dreaming is owned by Brooklyn Boyz Stables, Teresa Viola Racing Stables, et al. His trainer is Todd Pletcher and his jockey is John Velazquez. Pletcher has emerged as one of the world’s foremost trainers, who produced 87 first-place showings in 2017, 62 second-place showings, and 49 third-place showings while un-placing 151 times over 349 starts.
Always Dreaming Race History
In three starts in 2017, Always Dreaming has three wins, including in his previous race when he finished first at the Florida Derby.
The 3-year-old son of Bodemeister was winless in his first two starts as a juvenile during the summer of 2016, but came back off a five-month layoff to break his maiden by 11 1/2 lengths at Tampa Bay Downs in January.
Always Dreaming then romped as the 1-10 favorite in a Gulstream Park allowance on March 4, setting him up for the Grade 1 Xpressbet.com Florida Derby. He was actually the second betting choice at odds of 2.70/1 to win the Florida Derby but won by an impressive five lengths. He earned 100 qualifying points for the Kentucky Derby.
