LONDON, England (TheSpread) – The United States is hoping to claim a gold medal in Women’s Soccer at the 2012 Olympics. Here is a look at the odds to win this event.

According to oddsmakers, the United States is the favorite to win the gold, as they have odds of +250 to win. Other short odds to win the gold are Brazil (+350) and Japan (+500).
The United States has won the Olympic Gold Medal in three of the four Olympics where women’s soccer was played. They took the silver in the only one they didn’t win. The U.S. has beaten Brazil in the gold medal match the last two Olympics.
Brazil has reached the semifinals in the last four Olympic games, taking the silver in the last two. Brazil failed to reach the final four of the 2011 World Cup as well.
Japan finished fourth in the 2008 Olympics but the country has never medaled in women’s soccer. Japan is the defending World Cup champion, as they beat the U.S. in the finals in 2011.
