2011 Oscars Odds
HOLLYWOOD, CA (TheSpread) β The 2011 Oscars are set to take place on Feb. 27 and the nominations were just released for all the major awards.
Of all the nominations, only two movies landed 10 or more with The Kingβs Speech leading the way with 12 including Best Picture and Best Actor while the film True Grit earned 10 nominations including Best Picture and Best Director.
In the Best Picture category, The Social Network is favored to win according to oddsmakers from online sportsbook Sportsbook.com as it has a betting line of -350. The Kings Speech also has short odds at +125. The Social Network was a film about the development of Facebook while the Kingβs Speech is about King George VI and his ability to overcome a speech impediment.
Lead actor in the Kingβs Speech, Colin Firth is the heavy favorite to win Best Actor as he has odds of -2000, while James Franco of 127 Hours has the next shortest odds at +800.
In the Best Actress category, Natalie Portman of Black Swan is the favorite with odds of -1000. She already won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a dramatic role. Her closest competition is Annette Bening of The Kids Are Alright, who has odds of +300.
The 2011 Academy Awards will take place on Feb. 27 from the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood and will air live on CBS. For complete odds on the major awards, see below
