Women’s Boarding Cross
American Lindsey Jacobellis looks for redemption in the Women’s Snowboarding Cross at the 2010 Winter Olympics.
In this event, four snowboarders race in a pack down a course, racing against each other over rolling terrain and a series of jumps and ramps. The fastest two racers from each heat move on to the next round. There are a total of five rounds to determine the gold medal winner.
Jacobellis was on her way to a gold medal in this event in 2006, but she attempted a method grab on one of her final jumps in the final race and fell while leading. Instead of winning the gold, she finished with silver, and is now favored to get that gold medal in this Olympics.
Jacobellis has odds of 2/1 to win the gold medal according to online sports book Brobury Sports. Other short odds to win are Maelle Ricker (5/2), Helene Olafsen (3/1), and Dominique Maltais (9/1).
Since taking the silver medal in 2006, Jacobellis has won the last three X Games gold medals for this event while also winning the 2007 world championship.
