Men’s 10,000M Odds

One of the more physically challenging events of the 2010 Winter Olympics is the Men’s 10,000 Meter Speed Skating event, which is a test of endurance and leg strength.

In speed skating, competitors race around a 400-meter oval ice rink counter-clockwise.

For this event, current world record holder, Sven Kramer, is favored to take home the gold.

Kramer has odds of 10/13 to win the gold medal according to online sports book Brobury Sports. Other short odds to win are Bob de Jong (3/2), Havard Bokko (5/1), and Chad Hedrick (5/1).

Kramer, who competes for

Netherlands, currently holds the world record in this event with a time of 12:41.69, which he set in March of 2007. Kramer has won the gold medal in the last three World Championships in this event. Kramer finished seventh in this event at the 2006 Olympic Games.

De Jong also represents

Netherlands, and he was the gold medal winner in the 2006 Olympics for the 10,000 meters. De Jong’s has also won three world championships in this event in his career. De Jong’s best time in the 10,000 meter is 12:53.63, which he set on Dec. 30, 2009.

Bokko represents

Norway, and won the silver medal in the 2009 World Championships for this event, finishing just behind Kramer. Bokko’s personal best in the 10,000 meter is 13:00.65, which he set on Nov. 23, 2008.

Hedrick represents the

United States and in the 2006 Olympics, he took home gold in the 5,000 meter, silver in the 10,000 meter, and bronze in the 1,500 meter. Hedrick has never won a world championship in this event, and his personal best time is 12:55.11, which he set on Dec. 31, 2005.
