Biathlon Women’s Relay

The lone team event in the women’s biathlon at the 2010 Winter Olympics is the 4×6 Kilometer Relay, and the odds are out as to which team will win the gold medal.

In this event, each team consists of four members, with each member skiing 6 kilometres and shooting twice, once prone and once standing. At each shooting station, a competitor has eight shots to hit five targets. During the shooting, only five bullets are loaded in a gun at the start. If additional shots are required, the spare bullets must be loaded one at a time. If after the eight shots are taken, some targets still remain, the competitor must ski a 150-metre penalty loop.

Germany is favored to win this event, as they are led by Magdalena Neuner, who is one of the top favorites in each individual biathlon event.

Germany has been given odds of 5/7 to win according to online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com. Other short odds to win are
Russia (9/5), The Field (5/1), and

France (6/1).

Germany won the 2002 gold medal in this event and finished with the bronze in 2006.

Germany won the world title in 2007 and 2008, but finished in second in 2009.

Russia won the gold in the 2006 Olympics and is the defending world champion, led by Svetlana Sleptsova.

France finished with the bronze in the 2006 Olympics. Since finished second in the 2007 world championships,

France has taken third in 2008 and 2009.
