According to oddsmakers at online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com, Woods is the favorite to best Harrington in the first round with a listing of -270 as compared to Harrington’s line of +205.
Woods has won 14 major championships and has won at least one every year since 2005, but is 0-for-3 this year, with this weekend being his last chance to keep his streak alive. Woods has been notorious for slow starts in major championships and this year is averaging a score of 71.6 in the first round of majors. Over his last five majors, Woods has a scoring average of 71.8 in the first round.
Harrington has won three majors, including the 2008 PGA Championship. This year, Harrington is averaging a score of 71.3 in the first round of major championships, and in the last two years, he carries an average score of 73 in the first round of majors.
Last Sunday, these two were paired together in the final round of the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational. Woods trailed Harrington by three strokes entering Sunday’s round, but shot a 65 to earn the win, while Harrington struggled his way to a 72.
This pairing tees off Thursday at 9:35 a.m. Television coverage for the round begins at 2 p.m. ET on TNT.
