The American League has absolutely dominated the National League over the past decade, winning seven straight and 11 of the last 12 Midsummer Classics. The only game the AL hasn’t won in the last 12 years was a 7-7 tie in 2002.

Oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING have made the American League a –113 favorite on the moneyline. The National League is a +103 underdog on the moneyline.

In last year’s All-Star Game, the AL edged out the NL 4-3 in a 15-inning affair. Scott Kazmir of the Tampa Bay Rays was the winning pitcher, while Philadelphia Phillies’ reliever Brad Lidge took the loss and the Boston Red Sox’ J.D. Drew was the game’s MVP.

The National League will have home field advantage this year in St. Louis, not that that has mattered much in the recent past. Both rosters are obviously chockfull of talent and both starting lineups are extremely balanced. Will this finally be the NL’s year for victory or will the AL continue its dominance?

The 2009 MLB All-Star Game will take place live from Busch Stadium in St. Louis on Tuesday, July 14.
