Despite being confirmed to run, contender Hull has dropped out of the 2009 Preakness Stakes so that he can prepare for the Woody Stephens on June 6.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.COM had made Hull a midrange favorite at 18/1 odds to win the Preakness Stakes. But even though his recent race history suggested that he could hang with the competition at Pimlico on Saturday, his trainers pulled him from the race.
The Woody Stephens is an undercard for the 2009 Belmont Stakes, which will feature competition more suitable for the inexperienced Hull. Still, bettors must be disappointed that this potential sleeper has been pulled for the 2009 Preakness Stakes.
