Chicago Cubs DFS Spin

Cubs first baseman Trey Mancini was one of Chicago’s few bright spots in their 6-2 loss to the Angels on Wednesday night. Mancini went 1 for 4 with an RBI double in the fifth inning off of Angels starter Jaime Barria. Mancini recorded the Cubs’ only extra-base hit of the night. For the season, Mancini is slashing .241/.310/.349 with 6 doubles, 4 homers, and 19 RBIs across 186 plate appearances. Mancini is hitting .286 against Angels left-handed starter Reid Detmers in his career, and his OPS against southpaws (.749) is much better than his OPS against right-handed pitchers (.608). Mancini may have a big day at the dish due to his handedness advantage on Thursday.

Los Angeles Angels DFS Spin

Angels utility man Luis Rengifo stole the show in his team’s 6-2 win over the Cubs on Wednesday night. Hitting out of the eighth spot in the Los Angeles lineup, Rengifo went 2 for 4 with a 427-foot home run in the fifth and an RBI single in the sixth. For the season, Rengifo is slashing .224/.311/.333 with 4 doubles, 4 homers, 19 RBIs, and 5 steals. Rengifo might be eligible at multiple positions, making him more valuable in most DFS formats.

Cubs vs. Angels MLB Betting Trends

Chicago is 6-2 in their last 8 games against Los Angeles.

Los Angeles is 3-9 in their last 12 games after scoring 5 runs or more in their previous game.

Cubs vs. Angels Betting Prediction

The outcome of this game will likely hinge on the starting pitchers for each club. Chicago’s Drew Smyly has been exceptional this year. Smyly is 5-3 with a 3.56 ERA, a 1.11 WHIP, and a stellar 3.4 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Angels starter Reid Detmers hasn’t been good this season. The southpaw is 0-5 this year with a 5.15 ERA, a 1.54 WHIP, and an opponent batting average of .286. Detmers has actually been worse at home this season as his home ERA is 5.33 and his road ERA is 4.97. Reid Detmers has yet to record a win this year and I don’t believe he’ll get his first one on Thursday. I like the Cubs to win this one outright as money-line underdogs.
