Bucs 2012-13 NFL Season Odds
TAMPA, FL (The Spread) – The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a new head coach and a new attitude but will they compete in 2012?
Oddsmakers have installed Josh Freeman and the Bucs as 75/1 long shots to win the 2013 Super Bowl and 35/1 to win the NFC Championship this season. They’re also 10/1 to win the NFC South Division and have an over/under total of 6 for number of wins in the 2012 regular season.
The Bucs made two of the biggest moves of any team in free agency when they signed former Saints guard Carl Nicks to a five-year contract and former Charger wide receiver Vincent Jackson to a five-year deal as well. The team also signed free agents Amobi Okoye (Bears) and cornerback Eric Wright (Lions).
In the draft the Bucs selected Alabama safety Mark Barron and Boise State running back Doug Martin in the first round, as well as Nebraska linebacker Lavonte David in the second. They didn’t have another pick until the fifth round where they drafted West Virginia inside linebacker Najee Good.
Perhaps the biggest change that the Bucs endured this offseason was at head coach, where Greg Schiano replaces Raheem Morris. Schiano is expected to instill more toughness and physicality to Tampa, and restore some of the order that Morris lost last season. Whether or not the Bucs can compete in a division that also features the Saints, Falcons and much-improved Panthers is the question.
