Wednesday MLB Opening Odds
(The Spread) – Oddsmakers have released the opening odds for today’s baseball action, including Game 2 between the Red Sox and Yankees.
Jon Lester won his eighth game of the season on Tuesday when he pitched six innings of three-run ball in Boston’s 6-4 win. Jacoby Ellsbury and David Ortiz each homered for the BoSox, while Adrian Gonzalez hit a triple. (Ellsubry also doubled in the game.)
On Wednesday, oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog have made the Yankees –120 money line favorites over the Red Sox, who are +113. The over/under total for this game is currently sitting at 10 runs.
The pitching matchup for this 7:05PM ET start will be Tim Wakefield versus A.J. Burnett. Wakefield is 2-1 on the year with a 4.40 ERA over 43 innings, while Burnett is 6-3 this season with a 3.86 ERA and is coming off a solid outing against Oakland.
According to latest MLB trends, the Red Sox are now 5-0 against the Yankees in the last five meetings and 6-1-3 in Wakefield’s last 10 road starts versus New York. The over is also 4-1-2 in Wakefield’s last seven starts versus the Yankees and 4-0 in Burnett’s last four starts versus Boston.
