Wednesday MLB Opening Odds
(The Spread) – Oddsmakers have released the opening lines for Wednesday’s action on the diamond, including for Jake Peavy’s return to the mound.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Angels –108 money line favorites over Ozzie Guillen and the struggling White Sox, who are +101 on the ML for the 10:05PM ET start. The Sox will activate starter Jake Peavy from the disabled list and he’ll start for the first time in 2011.
According to latest MLB trends, the White Sox are 6-1 in Peavy’s last seven starts versus a team with a winning record and are 4-1 in his last five outings overall. The White Sox are also 21-8-1 in their last 30 trips to L.A. to take on the Angels.
Switching leagues, Cliff Lee will take the mound for the Phillies in Florida at 7:10PM ET. The visiting Phillies opened as –115 money line favorites against the Marlins, who are +105 on the ML.
In other MLB action, the Cubs are –119 money line favorites over the rivals, the Cardinals, who are +112 on the ML. Matt Garza (who is just 1-4 with a 4.43 ERA this season after being traded from Tampa Bay) will oppose Jake Westbrook for the 8:05PM ET start time.
The Red Sox will send John Lackey to the mound in Toronto to take on the Blue Jays at 7:07PM ET. Boston is –125 on the money line against the Jays, who are +118 home underdogs. The over/under total for this game is currently 9 runs.
