(The Spread) – The defending World Series champion San Francisco Giants try to salvage a series split Sunday night as they finish up a four-game series at the Los Angeles Dodgers.
After suffering two low-scoring losses in a row to open the season at Dodger Stadium, San Francisco did not leave things to chance Saturday afternoon as it pounded its rivals by a 10-0 final. Freddy Sanchez led the Giants as he went 3-for-4 with a double and a home run, driving in three runs and scoring twice.
Oddsmakers and online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Dodgers -140 favorites in the contest and the over-under is set at 7.5.
Barry Zito (9-14, 4.15 ERA in 2010), who was involved in a minor car accident this past week, gets the start for San Francisco. Hiroki Kiroda (11-13, 3.39 ERA) will pitch for the Dodgers.
According to the latest trends, Zito is 6-8 when starting against the Dodgers with an ERA of 3.83 and a WHIP of 1.192. His team’s record is 8-11in these starts and the under is 13-3. Kuroda is 2-2 when starting against San Francisco with an ERA of 3.56 and a WHIP of 1.140. His team’s record is 3-4 in these starts and the under is 4-3.
Elsewhere in Major League Baseball, the Cincinnati Reds will try to complete a three-game sweep when they host the Milwaukee Brewers at 1:00PM EST. The Reds are -130 favorites and the over-under is +120. The St. Louis Cardinals will attempt to avoid a sweep at home against the San Diego Padres in a 2:00PM EST start. St. Louis is a -170 favorite, while the over-under is 8.5.
In the American League, the New York Yankees go for the sweep against the Detroit Tigers at 1:00PM EST. New York is a -155 favorites with an over-under of 9. The Oakland A’s try to win their first game of the season at 4:00PM EST when they host the Seattle Mariners. Oakland is a -180 favorite, while the over-under is 7.5.
