Rays 2011 MLB Betting Odds
(The Spread) – After a whirlwind of activity this offseason, the Tampa Bay Rays are a bit of a mystery heading into the 2011 MLB season.

Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com currently list the Rays at +3000 on the money line to win the 2011 World Series and +800 to win the American League East. Tampa Bay also has an over/under total of 84.5 for wins in 2011 despite compiling 96 victories a year ago when it won the AL East.
Offseason Additions: The Rays signed two players in Johnny Damon and Manny Ramirez who helped the Red Sox win a World Series in 2004. they also added Kyle Farnsworth, J.P. Howell and Joel Peralta.
Offseason Losses: The biggest loss was suffered when outfielder Carl Crawford signed with the Red Sox over the winter. The team also parted ways with Rafael Soriano, Carlos Pena, Grant Balfour, Jason Bartlett, Dioner Navaro, Rocco Baldelli, Brad Hawpe and traded starting pitcher Matt Garza to the Cubs.
Season Outlook: Let’s see, the Rays lost Carl Crawford, Matt Garza, Rafael Soriano, Joaquin Benoit, Jason Bartlett, Carlos Pena and Grant Balfour and replaced them with Manny Ramirez, Johnny Damon and Kyle Farnsworth. Yikes. Their pitching staff will keep the Rays afloat this season, but the offense could really sputter unless they get a spark from Damon and Ramirez. Of course, their bullpen is their biggest concern. Even if the starters can work deep into games, if the Rays play in a lot of tight contests, they could be in trouble thanks to their bullpen. It might be a long year for stars like Evan Longoria and David Price.
