CHICAGO (AP) -The New York Yankees optioned Matt DeSalvo back to Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre after the right-hander got knocked out in the second inning of Monday’s 6-4 loss to the Chicago White Sox.
DeSalvo allowed three runs – two earned – in 1 1-3 innings starting for Roger Clemens, who pushed back his season debut to Saturday against Pittsburgh because of back pain. The Yankees had recalled DeSalvo earlier in the day.
