INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -Peyton Manning suddenly looks like any ordinary quarterback.
He’s thrown nine interceptions and been sacked eight times in the past month, arguably Manning’s worst month since his rookie season. And now many are wondering if Manning is simply trying to do too much.
Clearly, the four-time league MVP has a heavier burden than usual this season.
He’s on pace to throw more than 600 passes for the first time in his career, and injuries and poor pass protection have forced Manning to throw shorter, quicker passes.
Defenses have adapted by dropping more players into coverage.
The result has sent Indy into December with a 6-5 record that will have to improve if they want to make a ninth straight playoff appearance.
