PHILADELPHIA (AP) -Orlando Hudson had four hits and drove in four runs, Micah Owings pitched five effective innings Tuesday night to lead Arizona over Philadelphia 11-5, the Diamondbacks’ sixth straight victory.
Owings (4-1) gave up one run and seven hits. He tripled with two outs in the fifth and didn’t come out for the sixth.
Arizona got five runs off starter Jon Lieber (2-3) in the second inning and five unearned runs off reliever Geoff Geary in the eighth.
Ryan Howard of the Phillies left in the ninth inning after it appeared he injured his left leg diving for a groundball. The first baseman had three homers in five games since coming off the disabled list last Friday. The reigning NL MVP missed two weeks with a quad injury that began bothering him in spring training.
Lieber allowed five runs and 13 hits in 6 2-3 innings.
Pirates 4, Padres 1
PITTSBURGH (AP) – Tom Gorzelanny scattered seven hits over seven innings to lead Pittsburgh, which won for the fourth time in five games.
Gorzelanny (6-3), who gave up one run, entered the game third in the NL with a 2.51 ERA. He lowered that to 2.39.
Josh Bard went 3-for-4 and Jose Cruz had two hits for the Padres, who had won three in a row and six of seven.
Jason Bay hit his eighth homer and scored two runs for Pittsburgh. Adam LaRoche finished with three hits.
David Wells (2-3) allowed two runs and eight hits in five innings.
Salomon Torres pitched the ninth for his 12th save.
Dodgers 10, Nationals 0
WASHINGTON (AP) – Brad Penny scattered four singles over 6 1-3 innings and Juan Pierre had a career-high four extra-base hits for Los Angeles.
Penny (7-1) struck out four and walked one, combining with two relievers on the Dodgers’ third shutout of the season. Penny has yet to surrender a home run in 70 innings, making him the only pitcher in the majors who has pitched at least 40 innings without allowing a homer.
Luis Gonzalez hit a three-run homer for Los Angeles, which has won five of six.
Washington, coming off a 5-2 road trip, lost for the third time in four games at RFK Stadium.
Jason Simontacchi (2-3) got behind early, when Pierre hit the game’s second pitch for a triple into the right-field corner and then scored on Nomar Garciaparra’s one-out single.
Simontacchi went a season-high 6 1-3 innings, departing after loading the bases in the seventh and setting the stage for a six-run inning. He gave up six runs and 11 hits.
Mets 5, Giants 4, 12 innings
NEW YORK (AP) – Carlos Delgado hit his second homer of the game for New York moments after Jose Reyes provoked excitable San Francisco reliever Armando Benitez to balk home the tying run in the 12th inning.
The Mets took advantage of two balks by Benitez (0-3) to win their fourth in a row. Minus Barry Bonds from the starting lineup, the Giants lost their fourth straight.
Omar Vizquel barely beat first baseman’s Delgado’s throw home to put San Francisco ahead 4-3 in the top of the 12th.
Reyes drew a leadoff walk from Benitez and moved up on a balk. After a sacrifice and a groundout, Reyes began dancing down the third-base line, bluffing a mad dash. Suddenly, Benitez seemed to break his hands and Reyes was waved home.
Delgado followed with his 414th career home run.
Joe Smith (2-0) got the win despite giving up the go-ahead run.
Marlins 9, Cubs 4
CHICAGO (AP) – Jeremy Hermida hit a tiebreaking three-run homer in the fifth inning and Josh Willingham added a three-run double in the eighth to lead Florida.
Dontrelle Willis (7-3) worked seven innings for the Marlins, allowing four runs and seven hits.

The Marlins trailed 2-0 before pushing across two runs in the fourth and three in the fifth.
Jason Marquis (5-2) allowed five runs and eight hits in five innings to get his first loss since April 10. He had won five straight decisions.
Reds 2, Astros 1
HOUSTON (AP) – Scott Hatteberg hit a solo home run in the eighth and Matt Belisle struck out a career-high eight for Cincinnati, which handed Houston its ninth consecutive loss.
Belisle (5-4) allowed two hits after Adam Everett’s RBI triple in the second. He threw 102 pitches in 7 2-3 innings.
Adam Dunn had a sacrifice fly for the Reds, who won on the road for the third time in their last 12 games away from home.
David Weathers got Carlos Lee to ground into a game-ending double play with the bases loaded in the ninth for his 10th save.
Chad Qualls (4-2), who started the seventh and gave up Hatteberg’s homer, took the loss.
Brewers 5, Braves 4
MILWAUKEE (AP) – Ben Sheets brushed off a poor first inning to get the win and Prince Fielder hit his NL-leading 17th homer for Milwaukee, which snapped a six-game losing streak.
Atlanta starter John Smoltz, who recorded his 200th victory on Thursday, left the game in the fourth inning. He hurt his shoulder while warming up for the inning and re-injured his right pinkie finger in his previous at-bat. The Braves said he was taken out as a precaution.
Smoltz gave up eight hits and three runs.
J.J. Hardy singled in the go-ahead run for his 44th RBI off reliever Peter Moylan (1-1) in the sixth.
Francisco Cordero converted his 18th consecutive save chance, striking out two with runners on first and third to end it.
Sheets (5-3) gave up three runs in the first, but didn’t allow another run, scattering 11 hits in six innings.
Rockies 8, Cardinals 3
DENVER (AP) – Yorvit Torrealba hit a grand slam and Rodrigo Lopez struck out a season-high seven in six innings as Colorado won its seventh straight.
It’s the first time the Rockies have won seven in a row since Sept. 6-12, 1998.
Lopez, who was activated from the disabled list before the game, had been out since April 19 with right elbow inflammation. Lopez (2-0) allowed three runs and six hits.
Torrealba hit his third career grand slam, and first by Colorado this season, in the fourth. Braden Looper (6-4) walked the bases loaded to start the inning. Looper lasted 5 2-3 innings, giving up six runs and seven hits.
Brad Hawpe hit a two-run homer in the seventh off Cardinals reliever Tyler Johnson.
Jim Edmonds and Scott Rolen hit solo homers for the Cardinals.
