SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) -The San Francisco 49ers signed defensive back Tarell Brown on Tuesday, inking their fifth-round pick to a four-year contract.
Brown’s senior season at Texas was tinged by controversy, hurting his draft stock despite a college career that included 35 starts and a national championship with the Longhorns.
Brown was suspended for Texas’ game against Ohio State last season after he was arrested on misdemeanor drug and weapons charges after a traffic stop.
Brown, who had three interceptions at Texas, was the 147th overall pick in last month’s draft. He is the third of San Francisco’s nine draft picks to sign.
