Oklahoma Season Odds

Landry Jones proved to

Oklahoma
fans that he could someday be a Heisman contender in 2009, and now the sophomore looks to lead the Sooners to a BCS National title in 2010.

The Sooners were forced to turn to Jones in 2009 after Heisman winner Sam Bradford suffered multiple shoulder injuries that put him on the sidelines for most of the season.

As a freshman, Jones threw for 3,198 yards and 26 touchdowns with 14 interceptions. While

Oklahoma
went just 8-5, its lowest win total since 2004, Jones showed a lot of promise that has to have Bob Stoops optimistic about the future.

This season, Jones is one of eight starters back as he returns his top four receivers, led by Ryan Broyles, who caught 89 passes for 1,120 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2009.

Three starters are back on the offensive line, but the Sooners do lose their leading rusher from 2009, Chris Brown. Still, DeMarco Murray is back after rushing for 705 yards and eight touchdowns last season.

On defense,

Oklahoma
was solid in 2009, allowing just 14.5 points and 273 yards per-game. Five starters are back, led by 2008 Big 12 Freshman of the Year, Travis Lewis, who led

Oklahoma
in tackles last season with 109 and also had 8.5 tackles for loss at linebacker.

The Sooners also bring back Jeremy Beal at defensive end, who was a Third Team All-American last year after picking up 11 sacks and 70 tackles.

Oklahoma
also has back both safeties, including All-Big 12 pick, Quinton Carter, at free safety. Carter had 88 tackles and four interceptions in 2009.

Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com currently list

Oklahoma
with 13/1 to win the 2011 BCS National Championship. The Sooners are also listed at 3/2 to win the Big 12 Conference and 20/23 to win the Big 12 South.

Oklahoma
really has a couple of big games it has to win to run the table this year. The most obvious is Oct. 2 against
Texas in

Dallas
. The other two will be at
Cincinnati on Sept. 25 and at

Oklahoma
State
to end the regular season. The Sooners have the fire power to win and with

Texas
working in a new quarterback, the Big 12 is theirs for the taking. Jones getting that first year under his belt could lead to big things this year and we think

Oklahoma
is a nice play to win it all this season with a solid payout.
