The Rangers were busy this offseason, inking free agent deals with pitcher Rich Harden, DH Vladimir Guerrero, and pitchers Colby Lewis and Darren Oliver. They also acquired Mitch Hilligoss from the Yankees in exchange for Greg Golson.

The club parted ways with several players over the winter, including Marlon Byrd, Kevin Millwood, Hank Blalock, Andruw Jones, Omar Vizquel, Ivan Rodriguez, Jason Jennings, Kris Benson and Eddie Guardado.

Oddsmakers from online sports book Sports Interaction have made the Rangers 25/1 to win the 2010 World Series and 13/1 to win the AL Pennant. They’re also 2/1 to win the AL West and have an over/under total of 84.5 for number of wins in 2010.

With a healthy Josh Hamilton batting third, the Rangers’ offense packs major punch. The addition of Guerrero also helps, although second baseman Ian Kinsler is expected to miss time early in the season due to an injury so that hurts. Still, with youngsters Nelson Cruz, Chris Davis and Jarrod Saltalamacchia providing decent power at the bottom of the lineup, the Rangers should have no problems scoring runs in 2010.

The starting pitching is the question mark. Adding Harden was a major boost, but he has to stay healthy. Scott Feldman must also build off his impressive 2009 campaign in which he racked up 17 wins and a 4.08 ERA. The rest of the rotation is spotty at best, which is cause for concern when it comes to betting Texas this season.

Still, the Rangers will score plenty of runs on a nightly basis and if the pitching staff can at least keep from imploding, this club will make a postseason run.
