AccuScore Picks Patriots

The New York Giants will meet the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII in just a few days so we figured it was about time to run an AccuScore simulation on the big game.
For those who aren’t familiar with AccuScore, they use computer forecasting software to analyze sporting events in hope of predicting probable outcomes. The odds are out for the 2008 NFL Super Bowl XLII game between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants. Oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog have opened betting on this game by listing the Patriots as -13.5 point spread betting line favorites. The over/under odds were opened at 55 total points according to Bodog oddsmakers. |

Giants Win, Cover Spread

The New York Giants had just enough scoring power to win the 2008 NFC Championship game over the Green Bay Packers. However, they had a commanding league over the point spread for most of the game. More than 60% of sports bettors felt Green Bay would have enough offensive production to cover the -7.5 point spread set by oddsmakers at online sports book Bodog despite the brutal cold at Lambeau. But in the end, Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers were straight up and point spread losers in their final game of the season. |

Pat Win, Fail to Cover

In the end the New England Patriots were just too much for the San Diego Chargers, despite keeping it within a touchdown for much of the game. Everyone pretty much knew the Patriots would win their 18th game of the 2007-2008 NFL football season. Most also felt they would also cover the -14 point spread set by oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog in Sunday's AFC Championship Game. |
