According to oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com, Silva had a betting line of -450 to win the fight, meaning at $450 bet on Silva will pay out an additional $100.
Silva defeated Chael Sonnen by submission in the fifth round after being dominated by the grappler in the first 20 minutes. Sonnen was cruising along but got sloppy while in Silva’s guard, which allowed the champ to secure a triangle choke and also lock in an armbar with it, which forced a subtle tap from Sonnen with 110 seconds left in the fight.
In the co-main event, Jon Fitch (+100) defeated Thiago Alves by unanimous decision. Fitch controlled Alves from bell-to-bell as he scored numerous takedowns and didn’t allow Alves to establish his striking.
