Frosted Belmont Stakes Odds
ELMONT, NY (The Spread) – Based on the odds, Frosted appears to be the biggest threat to top American Pharoah in Saturday’s Belmont Stakes.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Frosted is 6/1 to win the Belmont, putting him only behind American Pharoah (2/3) in terms of the odds. Materiality, meanwhile, is 13/2 to win while Mubtaahij is 14/1 and Madefromlucky is 16/1.
Frosted finished outside of the money in the Kentucky Derby but did take a respectful fourth behind American Pharoah, Firing Line and Dortmund. He also won the Grade 1 Wood Memorial and finished second in both the Grade 2 Remsen and Grade 2 Holy Bull.
Frosted is the son of Tapit and the sire of last year’s Belmont winner, Tonalist. His trainer, Kiaran McLaughlin, produced a winner in the Belmont Stakes in 2006 (Jazil) and his jockey, Joel Rosario, won the Belmont last year. If nothing else, Frosted is well rested after not competing in the Preakness and has a winning team around him.
