ELMONT, NY (The Spread) - Could Freedom Child challenge Orb and Oxbow this Saturday in the 2013 Belmont Stakes?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Freedom Child is 12/1 to win this weekend's race, while 2013 Kentucky Derby Orb is favored at 3/1. Revolutionary has the next best odds at 4/1, while 2013 Preakness Stakes winner Oxbow is 6/1.
Continuing with the odds, Palace Malice is 10/1, Golden Soul is 12/1 and Overanalyze is 15/1. Unlimited Budget is 20/1, as is Will Take Charge, while Always in a Tiz, Frac Daddy, Giant Finish, Incognito, Midnight Taboo and Vyjack are all 30/1, respectively. Saint Vigeur has the longest odds at 40/1.
Freedom Child has only run in two graded stakes races throughout his career with dramatically different outcomes. He finished 10th in the Grade 1 Wood Memorial on April 6 but won the Grade 2 Peter Pan Stakes on May 11.
In his previous four races, Freedom Child finished eighth, second, third and first, respectively, in four separate Maiden Special Weights. When he placed second at the MSW on November 24, Belmont Stakes favorite Orb won the race and Revolutionary finished third.
The 2013 Belmont Stakes will take place from Belmont Park on Saturday, June 8.
