Rachael Alexandra Odds
Even before oddsmakers found out that she would run in the 2009 Preakness, Rachael Alexandra was made a favorite. And she remains a favorite at current 8/5 odds.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.COM opened Rachel Alexandra’s odds at 1/1, then moved them to 3/2 and now she has 8/5 odds to win. She has been the favorite to win the 134th running of the Preakness ever since potential contenders were announced.
The 3-year old filly has been absolutely phenomenal so far in her career. She’s currently on a five-race win streak and hasn’t lost a race thus far in 2009. Even though Mine That Bird won this year’s Kentucky Derby and is a contender to win the Triple Crown, many pundits think Rachael Alexandra will blow away the competition at the Pimlico Race Course on Saturday.
Even though Pioneerof The Nile (who finished second at the Kentucky Derby) is expected to challenge her at the Preakness, pundits feel that only the weather or poor track conditions can slow Rachael Alexandra. Of course, she also got the worst draw at position 13, which means she’ll have to come from the far outside when they break out of the gates. That’s just something to keep in mind as you consider whether or not to bet her at 8/5.
The 2009 Preakness Stakes takes place today at the Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. For complete odds see below, and for general information about this year’s race, be sure to check out our 2009 Preakness Stakes Viewing Guide.
