Kentucky Derby Betting Odds: Outwork
If you’re looking for an intriguing wildcard in this year’s Kentucky Derby, look no further than Outwork. Here’s a look at the colt’s odds to win Saturday’s race.
The Odds: According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, Outwork has odds of 12/1 to win Saturday’s Kentucky Derby. The 3-year-old colt currently shares those 12/1 odds with Destin and is listed behind a handful of contenders, including the favorite Nyquist at 3/1. Exaggerator and Mohaymen have the next-best odds behind Nyquist at 9/2 odds, respectively.
A Snapshot: Outwork’s trainer is the renowned Todd Pletcher, while his owner is Repole Stable. In four career starts, the colt has three wins with one second-place showing and has earned $701,800 in his career ($175,450 earnings per start). Outwork’s pedigree is Uncle Mo – Nonna Mia, by Emire Maker and he’s a front-runner in terms of running style. John Velazquez is scheduled to be Outwork’s jockey on Saturday.
Why Bet Outwork: Because he won the Grade 1 Wood Memorial Stakes and was the runner-up in the Lambholm South Tampa Bay Derby as well. The problem is that he only has four lifetime starts so he’s short on experience heading into Saturday’s race. But his speed and natural ability will make him an intriguing play for bettors this weekend. The grind of the Kentucky Derby can be difficult on front-runners but his natural cruising speed makes Outwork a wildcard at Churchill Downs.
