ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) -Alex Ovechkin will miss the Washington Capitals' next game because he is traveling to Russia to be with his ailing grandfather.
The NHL's reigning MVP caught a flight home Monday morning.
Ovechkin, who led the league in goals and points last season, definitely will sit out Washington's game against visiting Nashville on Tuesday night.
The Capitals say they do not know when he will be back.
