BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -The Buffalo Sabres have re-signed Teppo Numminen after the defenseman missed all but one game last season following heart surgery.
Sabres general manager Darcy Regier said the 40-year-old unrestricted free agent agreed to a one-year contract. The deal is worth $1.1 million.
He was scheduled to make $2.6 million last season after signing a one-year deal, but missed 81 games recovering from September 2007 heart surgery.
Numminen played for 16 minutes in Buffalo’s regular-season finale against the Boston Bruins.
In three seasons with Buffalo, Numminen has scored 69 points in 155 regular-season games.
