The Arizona Coyotes have bought out center Antoine Vermette.
General manager John Chayka announced the move Monday, saying it was done to give the Coyotes more flexibility.
Vermette is immediately an unrestricted free agent and will count $1.25 million against Arizona’s cap each of the next two seasons. The 34-year-old was set to count $3.75 million in the final year of his deal.
Vermette had 17 goals and 21 assists in 76 games last season. In 910 NHL games with Ottawa, Columbus, Chicago and Arizona, Vermette has 211 goals and 260 assists, winning the Stanley Cup with the Blackhawks in 2015 before returning to the Coyotes.
