COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -Less than 24 hours before they were to go to arbitration, the Columbus Blue Jackets and defenseman Marc Methot (meh-THAHT’) have agreed on a two-year contract.
Methot and the club were scheduled to go before an arbitrator on Thursday. They reached agreement on Wednesday afternoon, with general manager Scott Howson making the announcement but not disclosing terms.
The 24-year-old Methot developed into one of the Jackets’ top defensemen last season while scoring four goals and adding 13 assists with a plus 7 rating in 66 games.
He had spent most of the previous three seasons with Columbus’ American Hockey League affiliate in Syracuse, N.Y.
