DALLAS (AP) -Mike Modano is coming back for his 20th NHL season.
Modano had said he would take some time to ponder if he would retire when the Dallas Stars’ season ended without a playoff berth a month ago. The highest-scoring U.S.-born player in NHL history said Monday he would play next season.
Modano says watching other teams in the playoffs made him want to come back.
Modano turns 39 next month. He holds virtually every Stars franchise record, including his 1,400 games, 543 goals and 786 assists. He has played his entire career with the Stars, starting in Minnesota before the team moved to Dallas 15 seasons ago.
