TORONTO (CP) -The Toronto Maple Leafs signed forward Alexei Ponikarovsky on Thursday to a three-year contract extension.
The 27-year-old Ukranian native tied a career high in goals (21) and established personal bests in assists (24) and points (45) in 71 games this season. He was third on the team with a plus-8 rating.
Ponikarovsky has 54 goals and 66 assists in 268 career games with the Maple Leafs, who chose him with the 87th pick in the 1998 draft.
