ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -Minnesota Wild forward Andrew Brunette had surgery on his right knee on Thursday.
The team said in a statement that the procedure “went well.” Brunette is scheduled to begin a rehabilitation program on Friday.
The left wing played on a torn ligament for much of the second half of the season. He missed only two games all season. He said he hopes to be ready for training camp in September.
Brunette signed a three-year, $7 million contract to return to the Wild in the offseason. He provided toughness and leadership and finished second on the team with 22 goals and 50 points.
The Wild also announced that enforcer Derek Boogaard will have surgery on his right shoulder on Tuesday. The team says he will be ready for next season.
