TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -Tampa Bay Lightning center Vincent Lecavalier underwent surgery Tuesday to repair an injured labrum in right shoulder.
The team expects Lecavalier to be ready for the start of training camp in September.
Lecavalier was hurt in the third period of a game April 3 against Washington when he was hit by the Capitals’ Matt Cooke.
The injury ended an excellent season for Lecavalier, who finished seventh in the NHL in scoring with 40 goals and 52 assists for 92 points.
The operation was performed by Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala.
